FC Platinum Maintain Momentum
FC Platinum opened a five point lead at the top of the premiership after a 1-0 win against Bulawayo City at Barbourfields stadium on Saturday.
Midfielder Rodwell Chinyengetere scored the solitary goal with a minute to fulltime to lift the Pure Platinum Play five points clear of second placed Highlanders who p?ay Caps United on Sunday in Harare.
The start of the second half of the season was characterised by lack of goals as the other high profie game of matchday 16 ended in a goalless stalemate between ZPC Kariba and Dynamos at Nyamhunga stadium. The two teams played out to an identical score line in week 15 and Saturday's result saw Dynamos fail to get on to the scoresheet for the third consecutive match, something which might see pressure creeping back into the Glamour Boys' dressing room.
Elsewhere at Luveve stadium in Bulawayo Kudzanayi Kwashi scored probably the fastest goal of the season this far getting on to the target in under 30 seconds against How Mine. The Kelvin Kaindu coached side who registered their first win in eight games in the reverse fixture, needed a Praise Tonha strike on the stroke of halftime to salvage a point from the match.
At Sakubva stadium, Chapungu could not complete a double over Mutare City Rovers as they were restricted to nil all draw.
