FC Platinum Cautious Ahead Of Triangle Chibuku Clash

LOG leaders FC Platinum are cautious ahead of the Chibuku Super Cup quarterfinal clash with Triangle at Gibbo this Sunday.

The platinum miners are strongly in the hunt for a league and cup double following a stellar season under Norman Mapeza.

The draw for the $500 000 tournament was conducted in Gweru on Tuesday afternoon.

There are exciting fixtures which will also see giants Highlanders tackle bogey side How Mine.

Defending champions Harare City will travel to ZPC Kariba while newboys Ngezi Platinum Stars host Tsholotsho.

Giants Dynamos and CAPS United were conspicuous by their absence after suffering the humiliation of first round exits.

Unlike the first round draw, there were no seeds for the last eight draw. The first four teams picked play at home.

FC Platinum, although they play the quarterfinal match away, are among the favourites to land the cup this season after gathering so much momentum in the marathon.

Their spokesperson Chido Chizondo believes cup games are always unpredictable.

"I think this is a fair draw and we can only hope for the best.

"What we are going to do as FC Platinum is give our 100 percent.

"Triangle have always given a good run for our money," said Chizondo.

Chibuku Super Cup quarterfinal fixture:

Saturday:
ZPC Kariba v Harare City (Nyamhunga), Ngezi Platinum v Tsholotsho

Sunday:
How Mine v Highlanders (Barbourfields), Triangle v FC Platinum (Gibbo)
