Falcon College Condemn Peterhouse To Third Straight Defeat

A last minute try by replacement first centre Ian Andrew Collett handed Falcon College Mad Dogs a 15-10 victory over Peterhouse Kings in an entertaining schools rugby match watched by thousands in Esigodini on Saturday.

Flank David Bore gave the Peterhouse Kings the lead with an unconverted try. The Mad Dogs however refused to back down, inside centre Lebokgang Moukele scoring a try whose conversion was also missed.

Flyhalf Tinomukudza Chipfumbu gave Falcon College an 8-5 lead heading into halftime with a penalty goal in front of the posts.

Flyhalf Tabonga Ngonyamo restored the Peterhouse lead with a try whose conversion kick he missed as the Kings went 10-8 in front. It was like that for the better parts of the second half as Peterhouse looked to condemn Falcon College to their second home defeat of the season after a 24-14 loss to Prince Edward on the opening match of the schools second term.

In the last play of the match, Collett powered his way through to score the second try for Falcon College with the conversion booted in by Oliver Tavares.

The result means that Peterhouse have not won a game this season with defeats at home to Churchill and Prince Edward prior to their loss to Falcon College. Peterhouse travel to Masvingo to face Kyle College this Saturday.

It was three wins on the trot for the PE Tigers who defeated the Saint John’s College Rams 38-31 at home. Before that, the Shaun De Souza coached Tigers recorded away wins over Falcon College and Peterhouse. The Tigers, who play St George’s College this Saturday have carried on their fine form from the Dairibord Schools Rugby Festival where they where they recorded wins over Churchill, Livingstone Kolobeng College and Hillcrest.

Eaglesvale defeated Midlands Christian College 26-22, St George’s College won 39-13 over Kyle, Milton overcame Gifford 10-0 while Plumtree were 48-10 victorious over Goldridge in other schools rugby matches played on Saturday.
