Every Game Now A Cup Final: Akbay
Erol Akbay reckons that Highlanders will treat each of their remaining PSL games as a cup final as they seek to wrestle the league title from the leading pack.
Speaking to SportsZone ahead of Thursday clash against Harare city, Akbay said they need a strong mentality against the Sunshine Boys so that they capitalise on the slip up by log leaders FC Platinum and Caps United who were held in Wednesday games.
A win against Harare City will take Highlanders to 44 points, a touching distance behind FC Platinum who are now on 48 points after a goalless draw away to Border Strikers.
“We are now treating each game as a cup final because we need to win all the remaining matches. It's good that we have regained the form that we started with. Our rhythm was disrupted by the departure if key players but i am happy that we are back at our best and want to finish strongly," said Akbay.
Highlanders have been on the ascendency in the previous matches with the win over Dynamos, their first at home in 10 years putting them back into the title race.
Bosso are now high on confidence with veteran striker Ralph Matema regaining his scoring touch, coming off the bench to score in the last three matches.
Their opponents, Harare City are hard hit by injuries and suspensions going into the match missing key players Martin Vengesayi and Farai Madhanhanga through suspension while Tanaka Ruzvidzo, Munyaradzi Diro Nyenye, Crispen Dickson and Arnold Chivheya are out injured.
Both teams come into this match buoyed by wins in the previous Chibuku Super Cup first round matches at the weekend.
