Evans Rusike's Lone Battle
WARRIORS striker Evans Rusike appears to be carrying the burden of scoring alone at his South African side Maritzburg United and his coach is worried The Team of Choice is now over relying on the Zimbabwean.
Maritzburg have failed to score in their last eight matches, most recently playing to a barren stalemate with Bidvest Wits at Harry Gwala Stadium last Saturday.
Zimbabwean hitman Rusike is the Team of Choice's top scorer with three goals.
Maritzburg United coach Fadlu Davids says the team cannot rely on Rusike for all of their goals.
“We can’t rely on Evans Rusike for all our goals,” Davids is quoted as saying on his club's website.
“We take credit as a team for having the best defensive record in the league, and we have to take not scoring goals also as a team – not only the strikers.
“We have to talk about our attacking guys, our midfielders, even defenders at set-pieces. As a team we must take responsibility and we won’t put it on our striker’s shoulders.
“Each and every player must go onto the field say ‘I’m scoring today, or at least I’m assisting today’. With that mindset, goal orientated, you can get the end result.”
