Epoupa's SA Suitors Look Elsewhere

One of the South African sides that are chasing Dynamos striker Christian Joel Epoupa have been distracted by the emergence of another target from Kenya.

It has emerged that Ajax Cape Town are now chasing the services of Kenyan striker Jesse Jackson Were who currently plays for Zambian champions ZESCO United.

According to Kickoff, the 28-year-old Were has a buyout clause of US$160 000 (R2,155 million).

Were, who has proven his goal scoring qualities through his time in Kenya and Zambia, signed a two-year extension with ZESCO United in July.

Were has scored 34 goals in the last two years at ZESCO.

Ajax have been thin this season upfront and have indicated their intentions to reinforce in the upcoming January transfer window with DeMbare’s Epoupa one of the names being targeted.

They recently had Malian forward Mohammed Diallo on trial but decided not to sign him.

Epoupa is currently awaiting a visa to travel to South Africa where he is also set to undergo trials at ABSA champions Bidvest Wits.
