Edmore Sibanda Bounces Back, Mhari Finally Rewarded As Mapeza Names Warriors Squad

Caps United giant goalie Edmore Sibanda has bounced back into the Warriors fold after he was included in new coach Norman Mapeza’s squad set to play Zambia in an international friendly on Sunday.

Mapeza was appointed Zimbabwe national team interim coach on Tuesday night and he will be assisted by Ngezi Platinum Stars coach Tonderai Ndiraya and former Young Warriors coach Mandla “Lulu” Mpofu.

Mapeza has also included his keeper at FC Platinum Petros Mhari in the squad, finally repaying the reigning Goalkeeper of the Year who was perisintently snubbed under the previous technical team led by Kallisto Pasuwa.

The bulk of the 23-member squad was drawn from local clubs, mainly Caps United and Ngezi Platinum, which have been active in CAF interclub competitions.

Foreign based forwards Tendai Ndoro and Evans Rusike are the only players plying their trade beyond borders who are in the squad.

Players are expected in camp by midmorning on Thursday and they will train in the afternoon.

The match against Zambia will be played at the National Sports Stadium at 1500hours.
