Dynamos Winning Streak Halted...As Highlanders Miss Chance To Go Top

Dynamos winning run was halted by How Mine after a goallessdraw at Barbourfields stadium on Thursday while Highlanders missed the chanceto go top after a nil all stalemate against Mutare City.

Dembare were hoping to take their winning tally to sixmatches but were stopped by a more determined How Mine who however failed toend their own eight match winless run.

The first half was an evenly balanced exciting contest witha lot of action but few goal scoring opportunities. How Mine had the bestchances in the first half with Pasca Manhanga and Charles Sibanda getting some decentbreaks but lacked precision.

Makeshift Dynamos leftback Carlos Rusere nearly gifted thehome side with a goal on the 21st minute when his attempt to block a ThembaniMasuku shot beat Tatenda Mukuruva but went just wide for a corner. A minutelate Charles Sibanda failed to capitalise after a weak clearance from Mukuruvafell on his feet but he shot tamely at goal.

Manhanga came close eight minutes before the halftime breakwhen he went on a solo run beating three Dynamos defenders but shot straight atthe goalkeeper.

Dynamos had their fair of chances with King Nasama gettingto the end of a nice delivery by Masimba Mambare unmarked inside the box buthis first time effort went wide.

The second half belonged How Mine who kept Dynamos on theback foot but could not get a goal, much to the disappointment of their coachKelvin Kaindu.

“Its two points dropped than a point gained. We attacked somuch in the second and we deserved to get at least a goal. Otherwise I amimpressed with the way we applied ourselves defensively. There were no scarymoments for us, which is pleasing," said Kaindu.

Lloyd Mutasa the Dynamos coach was equally disappointed toend his winning streak which started on a sad note in the victory over Chapunguon a weekend their supporters died in a road accident on their way to Gweru.

“We would have wanted to continue winning but this isfootball. At times things doesn't go according to plan. Also we hurried the fewchances that came our way in the first half and in the second half we didn'tcome to the party. Offensively we were poor," said Mutasa.

Elsewhere, in Mutare at Sakubva stadium, Mutare Cityregistered their first draw of the season after holding Highlanders to agoalless stalemate. Bosso who are on a resurgence under Dutchman Erol Akbaywere favourites to win the match and go top the log standings but came unstuckagainst a spirited display by the debutants.

Highlanders were lucky to get a share of spoils when CalebMasocha's effort was ruled offside with sixteen minutes to fulltime.
