Dynamos Survive Scare In Kariba

DYNAMOS survived a scare in Kariba but still managed to come out with a draw against ZPC Kariba at Nyamhunga on Saturday.

Never Tigere opened the scores for ZPC Kariba after 26 minutes before the returning Denver Mukamba levelled eight minutes later.

It was a valuable point, given that second-placed Ngezi Platinum Stars had beaten Bulawayo City at BF on the same day.

DeMbare didn’t deserve the point they walked away with from Kariba.

ZPC Kariba’s talented left winger Talent Chamboko came close twice, first when he shot wide with an open net staring at him in the second half, before his stinging drive was parried away by Tonderai Mateyaunga in the 53rd minute.

The ZPC Kariba pair of Raphael Manuwire and Tigere bossed the midfield, getting the lion’s share against a DeMbare engine room that had Tichaona Chipunza and Obey Mwerahari playing twin d-link.

DeMbare coach Mutasa admitted his charges to a well drilled ZPC Kariba.

“Such is football, we tried very much to get three points but we couldn’t. The good thing is we managed to recover but I must say it’s not easy to play against a Sunday Chidzambwa coached side,” said Mutasa.

Chidzambwa praised his charges after the match.

“The boys played well, if we can play like this every weekend then we can produce good results,” Chidzambwa said.

The match was not without its share of controversy as Dynamos goalkeepers coach Zondai Nyaungwa was sent to the stands for remonstration by referee Nomore Musundire in the 68thminute.

DeMbare felt they could have been awarded a penalty after substitute Jimmy Konono appeared to be held inside the box.

In the end, it ended in yet another stalemate at Nyamhunga and DeMbare remain winless at this venue since ZPC Kariba’s promotion in 2014.
