Dynamos overcome stubborn Bulawayo City

DYNAMOS continued with their resurgence with their fourth consecutive victory in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League, the latest recorded over a determined Bulawayo City at Barbourfields Stadium yesterday.
A 29th minute header by defender Obey Mwerahari from an Ocean Mushure corner kick ensured Dynamos of their second win in as many visits to Bulawayo. The win, the sixth of the season saw the Glamour Boys move to 20 points but they could not go up the log standings as they remained in fifth spot, a point behind ZPC Kariba on 22.
City could have walked away with at least a point had veteran striker Mkhokheli Dube not produced the miss of the day in the second half. Dynamos interim coach Lloyd Mutasa conceded that they had not played a great game against a resolute City who could not punish DeMbare especially in the second half when they created a lot of goal scoring chances which they could not utilise.
“It was one of the toughest matches, we were very fortunate that we scored from another set piece again this week and we managed to hold on but thumbs up to Bulawayo City, they never gave up and gave us a good run for our money. When you play against such a determined side and you end up collecting three points but not a very much good performance I think it’s a positive on our side,’’ said Mutasa.
The Dynamos coach pulled a shocker when he withdrew Kevin Bulaji in the 85th minute to replace him with Carlos Rusere. Bulaji had been brought in as a substitute for Musa Madhiri in the 56th minute.
Bulawayo City coach Philani Ncube believes it is about time they become tougher at the highest level. He disclosed that they had even worked on defending corner kicks and still went on to concede a goal from that kind of set piece.
“One thing for sure is we need to develop a thick skin in the Premier League. It’s a gentlemen’s game, we are still thinking possession wise to give us results.
“The only chance was for Mkhokheli from both teams.
“They got a scrappy goal, they never created chances to hammer us, the only chance of the game that was worth a goal was Mkhokheli’s, its not an issue that we have to sacrifice and crucify him that is football.
“We did our homework, lapse of concentration, the very corner kick that we try to defend during our last training session yesterday was the very corner kick that went in,” he said.
