Dynamos Move Into Fourth........Coach Rules Out Championship Title
Dynamos moved into fourth position on the log standings after a 2-0 victory over Border Strikers on Sunday, a striking distance to mount title challenge but Coach Lloyd Mutasa still insists they are not in the race.
Dynamos who had an indifferent start to the season under Portuguese Paulo Jorge Silva have been on an upsurge since Mutasa took over. The win over Border Strikers took Dynamos to 23 points, four behind log leaders FC Platinum but with 17 round of matches still to be played, Mutasa still remains modest ruling the team out of the title race.
“Like I said before, we are not in the title race. We are here to play each game as it comes and see what happens from there," said Mutasa.
Dynamos laboured to breach a tactically disciplined Border Strikers rearguard which kept their lines well led by Captain Ephraim Mwinga and Tafadzwa Jaravani. Dembare needed a Godknows Murwira free kick twenty minutes into the second half to unsettle the Torch bearers. Kudzanayi Nyakasaka who came on in the second half for King Nasama wrapped up the victory on the stroke of fulltime after being set up by another second half substitute Musa Madhiri.
The visitors who put up a spirited performance had a shout for a penalty denied by the referee seven minutes from time when striker William Nyoni was impeded inside the box. Their goalkeeper Talent Sande had telling saves that kept his team in the game before the breach by Murwira.
Border Strikers coach Never Malunga blamed a lapse of concentration for the defeat.
“We just lacked concentration on that set piece and we got punished. Otherwise we played and its part of football. We now need to regroup and plan for the next match," said Malunga.
The defeat left the border town team rooted at the basement on the log standings
