Dynamos finally win at Home as Border Strikers fail to use home advantage in their first game at Dulibadzimu
Dynamos finally remembered how to win at Rufaro stadium as a goal in each half ensured maximum points in a 2-0 win against debutants Ngezi Platinum ending a difficult spell for Dembare at their home ground. The former champions had played 4 games at Rufaro drawing once (0-0 Chapungu) and losing on 3 occasions, (0-1 CAPS, 0-1 FC Platinum, 0-2 Highlanders).
Dembare came into the game on the back of an emotional win against Chapungu in matchday 9 after a tragic car accident which claimed the lives of some of their fans that had been travelling for the game at Ascot Stadium. And on Sunday fans came with placards that said the team was going to win as a way of paying tribute to the fans who perished.
Skipper Augustine Mbara opened the scoring 37 minutes into the game as he nodded past Ngezi goalkeeper, Nelson Chadya, from a Godknows Murwira corner kick. Second half substitute, Rodreck Mutuma scored the second in the 56th minute after some fine work by Masimba Mambare who laid the ball in the six yard box for Mutuma’s simple tap in. The two goals were enough to clinch their 1st win at Rufaro this term and their 4th win of the season.
Elsewhere, Border Strikers had a false start at Dulibadzimu losing 2-0 to visiting Chapungu. The torch bearers had been playing their home games at Mandava in Zvishavane but the PSL gave Dulivhadzimuthumbs up following renovations that were undertaken by the Beitbridge town council for the stadium to acquire PSL status.
The Beitbridge side managed to get a sell-out crowd but Chapungu spoiled their day with goals from Patrick Khumbula in the 5th minute and Allen Tavarwisa in the 37th minute. Border Strikers got a consolation from William Nyoni in the 90th minute but the damage was done by then.
Highlanders registered a 2-0 win over bogey side How Mine at Babourfields. Bosso took the lead through Simon Munawa who then turned provider to set up Bruce Kangwa for the second. Howmine finished the game a man down as Kudzai Chideu was sent off for a second yellow card in the 70th minute.
Two first half goals by Simba Nhivi and Abbas Amidu powered CAPS United to a 2-0 win against Mutare City at Sakubva stadium. At Gibbo in the Lowveld, Gift Mbweti’s solitary strike gave Hwange 3 points as they beat Triangle 1-0.
