Dynamos Ease Pressure At the Top

Dynamos moved three points clear at the top of the Castle Lager PSL log with a 2-1 victory over Harare City at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The win eased some pressure at the top for the Glamour Boys after other title suitors – Ngezi Platinum Stars, FC Platinum and Chicken Inn dropped points on matchday 27.

Dembare started the game well with Masimba Mambare forcing a save from City goalkeeper Maxwell Nyamupangedengu eight minutes into the game.

Harare City were also lovely as they immediately responded with a swift counter but Tonderayi Mateyaungwa, in goal for Dynamos, did well to knick the ball from Harare City’s Grey Kufandada.

The action continued to swing from one end to the other as the two Harare foes were looking for the opening goal of the match, but it was Dembare who were first with a well-worked goal in the 28th minute involving Peace Makaha, Christian Epoupa and Masimba Mambare.

Makaha started the move deep in Dynamos half and found Epoupa who sent Mambare on a good run on the far side. Mambare then made beautiful cutback that was placed beyond Nyamupangedengu by Makaha.

Dynamos got their second with a quarter of the game remaining as Harare City centre-back, Raymond Uchena turned Ocean Mushure’s freekick into his own net.

Former Dynamos striker, Martin Vengesayi scored a consolation for the Sunshine Boys with a ferocious shot from inside the box in the first minutes of referee’s time added on.

Elsewhere, Highlanders annihilated Chicken Inn 4-0 at Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo. Goals from Godfrey Makaruse, Ralph Matema and a brace from Simon Munawa ensured Bosso got their first win over Chicken Inn since 2011.

At the Colliery, Hwange used home advantage as they beat Bulawayo City 1-0 with a Shepard Gahadzikwa second-half goal.

Chapungu’s Brighton Mugoni was on the scoresheet at the Airforce side beat ZPC Kariba 1-0 at Ascot in Gweru.

Wellington Taderera scored a brace with Admire Dzumbunu weighing in with a goal as Shabanie won 1-3 against Bantu Rovers away at Luveve and Triangle Yadah drew 2-2 at Gibbo in the South East Lowveld.
