Diya Talks About DeMbare Move

How Mine keeper Munyaradzi Diya is not ruling out a return to former side Dynamos amid speculation the 2013 Soccer Star of the Year finalist could replace Warriors number one Tatenda Mukuruva who is earmarked for a foreign move after the 2017 Afcon finals.

Diya, whose contract with How Mine expires December 31, 2017, has been linked with a move back to DeMbare and has been engaging in extra training, fuelling speculation he is angling for a bigger move.

The 31-year-old Diya, who played for Dynamos in 2010 and was also voted among the best eleven players in 2013, played 21 games for How Mine in the just ended season despite competing with Warriors second choice Donovan Bernard.

With DeMbare first choice Mukuruva tipped to land a foreign deal after the 2017 Afcon finals, speculation has been rife that Diya might retrace his footsteps back to Harare.

In an interview with SportsZone Wednesday afternoon, Diya refused to rule out a move back to the club that put him on the spotlight.

“You never know with football, anything is possible,” said the former Highlanders keeper.

“I have heard about the Dynamos talk but I know nothing about those rumours. My contract at How Mine expires December 31, 2017,” he said, in an attempt to be coy.

Diya, whose brother Tichaona is also a former Dynamos goalie and trainer, thinks How Mine could have finished in a better position in the just ended Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

Chikurupati finished ninth.

“We wanted a top eight finish but we couldn’t. We played some nice football, our play improved greatly especially in the second half of season but still we missed the top eight,” he said.
