DeMbare's Long Wait

DYNAMOS had to wait for 4 140 minutes of league action before they could score at least three goals in a winning cause.
The Premiership giants had last scored at least three goals in a league game they won on September 16 in 2015 when they beat Whawha 5-1.
The last time that Dynamos had scored three goals in a league match despite failing to win the game was against CAPS United last year on October 16.
The match ended 3-3. That drawn match was one the most exciting Harare derbies played in recent years. CAPS United had to come from 3-0 to level 3-3, crucial point that kept the 2016 champions’ title chase on track.
On Sunday they turned on the style to refresh memories of the 5-1 win over Whawha by dismissing ZPC Kariba 3-1 in what became their first home win.
And new star Emmanuel Mandiranga, who was outstanding in that game, believes the three goals is a positive development.
“It means a lot to us because we have been struggling to score goals. If you look at when we were winning, we were winning 1-0. I’m happy we managed to score three goals and the goals were being scored by different players,” Mandiranga told H-Metro.
A lot of things have changed since DeMbare last beat Whawha 5-1.
•    The current Dynamos coach Lloyd Mutasa was coach for Whawha then and the club was relegated by end of the season.
•    Tonderai Ndiraya, who was the Dynamos coach in that 5-1 win, has since joined Ngezi Platinum.
•    Three of the scorers that after afternoon, Godknows Murwira, Takesure Chinyama and Ronald Chitiyo, are no longer with Dynamos.
•    Ocean Mushure, one of the scorers that afternoon, is now captain of the team. One of the goals against Whawha was an own goal.
On Sunday the goals came from Mandiranga, Quality Kangadze and Denver Mukamba.
For Mandiranga, three different players scoring for DeMbare in one game in a winning cause represents a milestone.
He believes they have to be consistent in the coming games if DeMbare are to be a force in 2017.
“That is what we are fighting for. We have to be consistent because as it stands the position that we are at is not exciting at all. We do not deserve to be there and we have to make sure that we keep on winning games if we are to improve,” said Mandiranga.
