DeMbare Snubbed?
REPORTED Dynamos target David Bright, one of the foreign coaches being linked with the troubled Zimbabwean football giant, would prefer Bulawayo teams if he is to make a move to the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League, close sources have revealed.
Dynamos president Keni Mubaiwa hinted during the week that his club would hire a coach to replace under fire Lloyd Mutasa, even before the end of the season and Bright’s name has been mentioned as a possible successor.
Former AFC Leopards coach Peter de Jong and Egyptian gaffer Mohamed Fathi, who once coached local giants Highlanders, have also been linked with the Dynamos coaching job.
Dynamos legend Sunday “Mhofu” Chidzambwa is also tipped to make a sensational return to the club that he took to the 1998 CAF Champions League final.
Bright, a former Botswana national team coach told The Sunday Mail last weekend of his strong admiration for Dynamos but our sources in Botswana now claim that the 60-year-old gaffer would settle for Bulawayo teams if he is to move to Zimbabwe.
“He has been enquiring a lot about Zimbabwean teams, working conditions and all, but with a bias towards teams from Bulawayo given the city’s proximity to Gaborone.
“It seems he (Bright) has been charmed by the links with Zimbabwean football,” said the source.
Bright, who is currently coaching Botswana National First Division side Morupule Wanderers, albeit without a contract, could not be reached immediately on his cell phone.
There are also reports that the Dynamos board led by Bernard Marriot is pushing Mubaiwa to shelve the idea of firing coaches before the season closes.
Mubaiwa unilaterally fired assistant coach Murape Murape last Tuesday but reversed the decision 24 hours later due to pressure from the board.
