DeMbare Blow Another Chance

Maglas Stadium continued to be a difficult hunting ground for Dynamos as the log leaders were frustrated to a 1-1 by hosts Shabanie Mine Thursday afternoon.

After Caps United beat Chicken Inn 1-0 on Wednesday night, a few hours after other title contenders FC Platinum had dropped points at Rufaro, all looked set for DeMbare to take advantage.

But it was not to be at Maglas where Dynamos are yet to win a league match against Shabanie since June 2006.

When Ocean Mushure swung in a free kick after only five minutes, scoring his seventh of the season in the process, it looked all set for a DeMbare roll.

Masimba Mambare came close before Tichaona Chipunza’s speculative shot nearly caught Shabanie Mine keeper Petros Sithole off guard.

Shabanie Mine came back a stronger side with former DeMbare man Farai Mupasiri causing all sorts of problems.

Tonderai Mateyaunga made a couple saves but he could not deny Wilson Mupasiri who scored the sucker punch in the 87th minute.

The result leaves DeMbare on 53 points and a point above Ngezi Platinum and FC Platinum.

Ailing giants Highlanders were held to 0-0 draw by Bantu Rovers while Harare City moved two places north into 12th after a 1-0 win over Chapungu at Rufaro.

Wilson Muvirimi scored in the 92nd minute for the Sunshine Boys.
