Dembare And Bosso In Disappointing Draws As CAPS United Blow Chance
Dynamos coach Lloyd Mutasa tinkered with his team in search of a winning formula but the script read the same at the end as Dembare were held to another disappointing 1-1 at home by Bulawayo City on a Sunday that also saw Highlanders’ winless streak continuing as they also drew 1-1 against defending champions Chicken Inn.
Dynamos have now gone six straight games without a win and drop out of the top 4 to sixth spot after the result.
After last weekend’s shock defeat to Border Strikers in which some senior players were accused of allegedly sabotaging the team by underperforming, Mutasa wielded the axe.
Tatenda Mukuruva, Sydney Linyama, Stephen Alimenda, Rodrick Mutuma and Denver Mukamba were all dropped with the coach giving a run to young players.
Masimba Mambare Celebrating his goal against Bulawayo city
Masimba Mambare put Dynamos ahead 14 minutes into the match poking home from close range but Sipho Ndlovu equalised six minutes after the restart.
A dejected Mutasa said the team was going through a lean spell.
“We would have wanted to win but we failed to protect the lead. We are going through a lean spell. I just want to thank the supporters for coming in to support us and would want to apologise for the poor results,” said Mutasa.
With the result, Dynamos dropped to sixth while Bulawayo City who are under caretaker coach Try Ncube following the suspension of Philani Ncube over match fixing allegations remain 10th on the log.
The Bulawayo derby ended in a 1-1 stalemate but there was dram at the end as Chicken Inn scored on the dearth through Tafadzwa Kutinyu. The referee did not sanction the goal arguing that he had ended the match. The decision infuriated Chicken Inn technical team and players who mobbed the referee after the game. Highlanders fans were not impressed with the officiating either and threw missiles after the game forcing police to take cover as they invaded the pitch.
Lawrence Mhlanga had put the Gamecocks in the lead nine minutes to the breather before Simon Munawa leveled the scoring seven minutes into the second half. The result was the sixth draw in twelve meetings between the two clubs with Highlanders having won only once and Chicken Inn winning five times.
CAPS United Striker Dominic Chungwa in action against Hwange at Colliery stadium
Elsewhere, CAPS United failed to take advantage of FC Platinum’s slump on Saturday and close the gap when they played a goalless draw against Hwange at the Colliery. FC Platinum drew 1-1 against Mutare City but Caps United had shambolic preparations for the Hwange match with players striking on the eve of departure.
