Dynamos fans were left cursing Coach Lloyd Mutasa and the club’s Executive after the team wandered without direction at Rufaro stadium losing 5-4 on penalties to How Mine in the first round of the Chibuku Super Cup.

The fans feel the executive has failed the club by keeping Mutasa in charge after the team fell out of the running for the league title and the Chibuku Super Cup.

Bernard Donovan was the hero for How Mine saving Tatenda Mukuruva’s kick in the sudden death before scoring the winning penalty. Donovan who deputises Mukuruva at national team had earlier saved an effort from Wisdom Mutasa but Praise Tonha failed to give the gold miners the winner as his effort was smothered by Mukuruva.

This was the first time the two team could be separated this season after their league matches ended in a stalemate.

Mutasa apologised to the fans for his team’s awful performance.

“We are really sorry to the fans for this performance, they pay their money to watch the team play good football. The youngsters performed well at the training sessions but today, it didn’t come out well.

“We are out of the running for the league and the fans also wanted something to cheer about and it’s understandable when they are aggrieved,” said Mutasa.

Dynamos playing without a natural central striker, had put up a tepid performance without creating meaningful goal scoring chances. It was the visitors who came close to breaking the deadlock in the second half when Timothy January’s long range shot crushed off the cross bar in the second half. 

Tatenda Mukuruva produced the best save of the match blocking Toto Banda’s close range effort in the dying stages of the game.
