City Hornets Ladies Takes HBA By Storm
HARARE City Hornets Ladies have taken the Harare Basketball Association (HBA) Women’s League by storm and have mega intentions of running away with the 2017-18 season championship in only their debut season.
After just 12 games, City Hornets Ladies (23 points) find themselves leading the league title race at the mid-season break ahead of other giants JBC (22 points), Mufakose Hustlers (21 points), Vixens (18 points) and Green Stars on 17 points.
“It’s been really a challenging season for us with a lot of ups and downs but we made it against all odds,” City Hornets Ladies captain, Juliet Misihairambwi said.
“Every team we played gave us a good run and many thanks to our coaches and technical team for their overwhelming support.”
Vixens and Green Stars, however, still have two and three games respectively to catch up hence making City Hornets unrelaxed.
But City Hornets Ladies are concentrating on their business continuously ticking all the boxes that places them as favourites to scoop the Women’s title.
“We are aiming for gold and I have faith in my teammates and coaches. I know we are not going to get the championship on a silver platter but with the hard work and determination God will see us through. We also have skill and brains to win the championship.”
It’s all in City Hornets Ladies’ hands to better their platform on which they will step onto the podium.
This stage is probably the right time for City Hornets Ladies and any other title contenders to do justice to their points tally.
Misihairambwi has since made the captain’s call pushing her teammates to push all the way through until they reach the Promised Land.
“Definitely losing is not an option for us and we are hungry for the championship. We are still icons in the making but we are aiming at being the best team in everything we do.
“We also want to take ladies basketball to the next level and be highly recognised team in the world,” she said.
