
City Clinch Second Chibuku Cup
HARARE CITY won their second Chibuku Super Cup after beating How Mine 3-1 at Rufaro on Saturday.
The Sunshine Boys scored their first in the 66th through Farai Madhanaga who headed home a Martin Vengesayi cross.
Vengesayi was the provider again seven minutes later, this time feeding William Manondo who slid the ball under a diving Donovan Bernard.
A minute later it was 3-0, Manondo completing his brace after he got to the end of an inviting cross from Madhanaga.
Peter “Rio” Moyo pulled one back for Chikurupati in the 84th minute.
Harare City will represent Zimbabwe in next year’s CAF Confederation Cup and their gaffer Philani “Beefy” Ncube was ecstatic after getting one over rival Kelvin Kaindu.
“One thing for sure you need to congratulate the boys, the way they played, they were positive. First half we were down but in the second half I was amazed with the way they came out,” said Ncube.
“A cup game is not about the performance it is about the result.”
How Mine coach Kaindu blamed the financial constraints bedevilling his club.
“Stress came in, it was always going to be difficult for us, you have a situation where you are going to a cup final and a player is looking for transport money to get to where you are supposed to meet, it will always haunt you and you lose concentration.
“But I give credit to the players, they have worked under difficult conditions, we needed money than anything else but it was not to be
