Chunga Defends Tactics
MOSES “Bambo” Chunga has defended his tactics after he fielded forward Honey Chimutimunzeve as a surprise left back when his Harare City crashed to their first league defeat to Highlanders at Rufaro on Thursday.
Resurgent Allen Gahadzikwa scored the solitary goal for Bosso in a game Chimutimunzeve seemed to struggle a bit as a wing back.
But Chunga saw otherwise and had a ready explanation for his tactical decision.
“We have 18 players on the bench and if you’re selected to play you can play any position that’s my motto,” he said.
Chunga commended Chimutimunzeve for his efforts in an unfamiliar role and hinted that the lanky former Caps United player could feature more at left back in future assignments.
“He did well, he never put his foot wrong I think we will see if we can use him (in the same position) next time.
“It all depends with the situation,” said Chunga.
Harare City’s loss to Highlanders was their 10th defeat of the season and City are now sitting on position nine with 32 points.
The Sunshine Boys are now one of the five teams who have suffered 10 or more defeats this season.
The other four are bottom-placed Border Strikers who have been beaten 18 times, Tsholotsho (15), Mutare City (13) and Hwange who have tasted defeat 10 times.
Harare City’s next tie is away to Tsholotsho at Luveve on Monday.
