Chitembwe Trying Out Combinations Ahead Of Champions League Clash

Caps United coach Lloyd Chitembwe could use new signing Ronald “Rooney” Chitiyo as a second striker in a starting lineup that will also include Joel Ngodzo when the Zimbabwean champions play FC Lioli of Lesotho in the first leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary round on Saturday.

There has been much speculation on how Chitembwe would use both Chitiyo and Ngodzo in the same team as both have the same qualities.

However, at Wednesday’s training at the National Sports Stadium’s B Arena, Chitembwe’s drills had Devon Chafa anchoring the midfield with Ngodzo just in front while Chitiyo played more as a support striker to Dominic Chungwa.

It also looks like Chitembwe might partner Dennis Dauda with Carlton Munzabwa at the heart of the Caps United defense in Maseru although new signing Last Sithole has a chance to gate crash into the starting lineup.

Chitembwe wants Caps United to progress as far as possible in the 2017 Champions League.

“What is important is that we build a competitive team that can go far in the Champions League,” Chitembwe told journalists at the National Sports Stadium Wednesday afternoon.
