Chitembwe Speaks On Maglas Juju Claims
CAPS United coach Lloyd Chitembwe, who also had a stint at Shabanie some years ago, has spoken about the juju claims associated with Maglas Stadium, the home of the Chinda Boys in Zvishavane.
A strong wind hit Maglas Stadium in the second half with Shabanie leading 1-0 and some claimed it was some juju work by Shabanie who have maintained a strong home record against CAPS United in Zvishavane.
The last time CAPS United won against Shabanie Mine at Magals was in 2005.
And those pushing the juju agenda say it is not the first time strong winds have been experienced when Shabanie are in action.
They point to the 2013 BancABC final at Mandava which Shabanie beat FC Platinum on penalties after another strong wind hit the stadium in the last 30 minutes of the game.
However, Chitembwe who once coached Shabanie dismissed the juju claims.
“No one has control over nature. At the end of the day, God is in control and it’s not about human beings out there who control things,” said Chitembwe.
“It was just a coincidence that it got so windy especially in the second half, it appeared to be in favour of Shabanie but they never really looked like they would score in the second half.”
Makepekepe are waiting for a decision from PSL following the abandonment of their Chibuku Super Cup last eight clash against Shabanie at Maglas last Sunday.
The match ended in the 65th minute due to crowd trouble with the hosts leading 1-0.
That was after assistant referee Thomas Kusosa was struck by a missile and sustained a deep cut on the head in the chaos sparked by his decision to rule that an offside infringement had occurred in the build-up to the goal scored by Kudzai Nyamupfukudza in the 64th minute.
