Chitembwe Salutes Players... As He Makes History
Lloyd Chitembwe paid tribute to his players after he became the first coach to win the league title both as a player, assistant Coach and Coach at CAPS United.
Chitembwe was part of the 1996 team which won the first league title after independence and also won a double during the twilight of his career in 2004-05 where he also doubled up as an assistant coach.
"This is a great crop of players, this is the best I have ever worked with. Everything goes down to them, they really worked hard, they showed so much character and desire to win. Everything goes down to them. Its a very remarkable achievement and I am very happy with that," Chitembwe said.
Despite their season plagued by financial challenges which saw players striking over unpaid salaries, CAPS United showed character to rise above their problems grinding crucial results against How Mine and Dynamos when the odds seemed not in their favour.
Chitembwe also made a mark when he ended the season without a defeat at home.
