Chitembwe Oozes With Confidence


CAPS UNITED coach Lloyd Chitembwe is confident his charges will hold their own against five-time African champions and last season’s CAF Champions League finalists Zamalek when the two teams clash on Friday night.

Makepekepe play Zamalek in Cairo in a Total CAF Champions League group phase encounter at the Borg El Arab Stadium and kick off is 9PM Zimbabwean time.

Chitembwe conducted an intensive and tactical training session at the National Sports Stadium on Tuesday morning.

“We are drawing our confidence from the way we performed last season and how we managed sail past TP Mazembe in the first round.

“The boys know that they have to competitive and will try to do just that. Nobody gave us a chance a team like TP Mazembe but we dumped them out.

“We are drawing our motivation from such an achievement,” Chitembwe said.

From the training drills it looks like young Valentine Musarurwa will start at left back with Ronald Pfumbidzai playing as a left attacking midfielder.

Dennis Dauda will partner Justice Jangano at centre back with Hardlife Zvirekwi playing his usual right back role.

Devon Chafa and Moses Muchenje will play behind Ronald Chitiyo in central midfield with Phineas Bamusi and Pfumbidzai providing the width.

Abbas Amidu is expected to be deployed as a lone striker.

Caps United leave for Egypt on Wednesday, via Ethiopia and are expected in Cairo on Thursday.
