Chikuni Hints On Future
ZIFA Central Soccer League championship winning coach Tendai Chikuni has hinted that he could move to another club if favourable offers come his way.
Chikuni refused to divulge the contents of his present contract, but there are strong indications that his tenure with Shabanie Mine ends next month.
The former FC Platinum coach, however, was quick to point out that he would give Shabanie Mine first preference if they still need his
services.
“My mission was to ensure that Shabanie Mine win the Division One championship and I managed to achieve this under very difficult circumstances. I am still deciding about the future because there have been offers which came during the season, but I turned them down because I wanted to ensure that Shabanie Mine go back to the Premiership since they are a big brand,” said Chikuni.
“While I will consider offers if they come my way, I will give first priority to Shabanie Mine, but let me say there is nothing concrete on
the table to talk about at the moment.”
Chikuni, who wrapped up the CSL championship with the asbestos miners after edging cross town rivals FC Platinum Under-19 1 – 0 on Saturday, was earlier this year linked with a move to premiership outfit Chicken Inn where he was to assume the role of assistant coach.
He was set to reunite with Rahman Gumbo, whom he deputised at FC Platinum in 2011.
