Chigova Ships In Three, SA Based Stars Endure Mixed Fortunes
GEORGE Chigova shipped in three, Khama Biliat was benched at Mamelodi Sundowns and Tendai Ndoro could not score for Orlando Pirates as Zimbabwean soccer stars endured mixed fortunes in the ABSA Premiership Wednesday night.
Chigova’s Polokwane City played out a 3-3 thriller at Kuda Mahachi’s Golden Arrows, a result that left Arrows fourth with 18 points.
Mahachi was an unused substitute for Arrows while Warriors utility player Danny “Deco” Phiri did not make the Match Day squad.
Polokwane City are now seventh on the log with 15 points.
Mamelodi Sundowns star, Billiat, could not rescue his side from a 0-2 a defeat at the hands of Ajax Cape Town after coming on as a 62nd minute substitute for Themba Zwane.
Sundowns had a dragged start to the 2016-2017 ABSA Premiership due to their commitments in the Caf Champions League and have now accumulated 13 points from seven games.
They sit on position eight and now trail log leaders Cape Town City by eight points.
The league’s top scorer Ndoro failed to hit target as Orlando Pirates suffered a last gasp equalizer against Baroka FC.
Pirates were leading 1-0 when Baroka FC keeper Oscarine Masuluke leveled with a spectacular overhead in the 95th minute.
The video of that goal has gone viral.
Ndoro, who has scored nine goals so far, was substituted in the 84th minute. Pirates are now sixth on the log.
