Chigova Rated Second Best In SA

Zimbabwean international goalkeeper George Chigova is rated the second best, in terms of clean sheets, in the ABSA 2016/17 this season which concludes this weekend.

He kept 10 clean sheet out of 29 league games.

Chigova has been in good form for Polokwane City since moving to the North West in 2014 and this season alone, he has featured in each of their 29 matches.

“It’s a flattering record. I am always keen to learn and improve. I am happy with such consistency but I feel I can do better than that. It’s a great recognition ahead of big players in South Africa,” Chigova said.

The lanky shot-stopper lost the top spot to Platinum Stars, Mbongeni Mzimela who managed 11 sheets.

The goalkeeper enjoyed a great season, not only surpassing Itumeleng Khune with the cleanest sheets in the PSL so far this season, but also scoring two goals for Dikwena in their Confederation Cup.

On second position Chigova is tied with Mamelodi Sundowns’ Dennis Onyango

ABSA Premiership champions Bidvest Wits’ Dareen Keet has nine whilst Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs goal-minder Khune is on fifth position with nine.

Chigova joined Polokwane City from SuperSport United goalkeeper, on a permanent basis in the 2015/16 season in search of regular game time.

Chigova signed a three-year deal with City after the two clubs agreed on a transfer fee, and has become their first-choice shot-stopper following the departure of Modiri Marumo.

They host Cape Town City in their last ABSA Premiership fixture this weekend.
