Chidzambwa Finally Wins...As Ndiraya's Bubble Bursts
Sunday Chidzambwa finally tasted victory after eight attempts with a 1-0 win over Chapungu on a weekend that Tonderai Ndiraya got his first defeat.
Chidzambwa had gone on a worrisome eight match winless run but a second half strike from Dexter Phiri brought him a huge sigh of relief.
“We played well in the previous matches but unfortunately we couldn't win. This win is a crucial one as it brings back the confidence," said Chidzambwa.
At Baobab stadium, Kelvin Kaindu was the unlikely person to give Ndiraya his first defeat of the season. Ngezi Platinum had been soaring since Ndiraya took over but their bubble burst against How Mine who have been previously inconsistent. Qadr Amin thrust the visitors ahead from the penalty spot nine minutes from halftime before the ever green right back Praise Tonha added the second on the stroke of fulltime. An ecstatic Kelvin Kaindu went biblical describing the victory as a second round anointing.
Elsewhere, Malvern Gaki gave Triangle a 1-0 victory over Tsholotsho in Bulawayo while log leaders FC Platinum had to come from behind to force a 1-1 draw against Mutare City. Agrippa Murimba had put Mutare City ahead early in the first half from the penalty spot and Nqobizitha Masuku equalised on the half hour mark. This was the third consecutive draw for FC Platinum having drawn 1-1 against Hwange before last weekend's nil all draw against Caps United.
Moses Chunga responded to critics over his style and player management with a comfortable 2-0 win over basement side Border Strikers. There has been murmurs of discontent in the Harare City camp over the exclusion of some senior players by Chunga coupled by a poor run with some sections calling for his ouster. However Jerry Chipangura and Martin Vengesayi scored in each half to give Chunga a vindication.
