Chidzambwa Explains Chigova's Absence

Warriors coach Sunday Chidzambwa clarified the absence of giant goalie George Chigova in Zimbabwe’s 4-3 Cosafa Castle Cup semi final victory over Lesotho on Wednesday night saying his technical team feared the former Dynamos keeper would pick up a second yellow.

Chigova picked up his first yellow in the Warriors’ 2-1 win over Swaziland at the quarterfinal stage and was on the bench on Wednesday night when Zimbabwe beat Lesotho.

Ngezi Platinum Stars second choice keeper Takabva Mawaya held fort.

“We didn’t want to take a gamble with George because he has a yellow card from the last game and that is why we kept him on the bench.

“If anything had happened and he picked another yellow he would have been out of the final,” Chidzambwa said.

Zimbabwe will meet rivals Zambia in the final on Sunday.

Zambia walloped Tanzania 4-2 in the other semi final.
