Chibuku Super Cup Predictions with Mugove Chigada

SportsZone Football pundit Mugove Chigada is back with another round of predictions but this time in the Chibuku Super Cup quarter final matches.

ZPC Kariba v Harare City (Nyamhunga Stadium)

harare

ZPC Kariba are at home but they will have to go against the grain if they are to beat Harare City in the quarter-finals. The defending champions are yet to taste defeat in 90 minutes since the tournament started in 2014. If Moses Chunga’s side can negotiate their way through ZPC Kariba and do the same in the semi-final, they will become the first club to reach a third consecutive final in the tournament.

They are also the highest scorers of the tournament with 26 goals while forward William Manondo will seek to consolidate his position as the tournament’s top scorer with seven goals in nine matches.

ZPC Kariba have already lost to the same opponent twice this year in league matches.

Prediction: Harare City win

How Mine v Highlanders (Barbourfields Stadium)

bosso

Highlanders are in good form but they come face to face with an unpredictable How Mine.

The history of this tournament however favours Highlanders.

There are a total of 24 teams that have participated in the Chibuku Super Cup to date and Highlanders are ranked third on that log with four wins and one loss.

How Mine are 11th on that log with one defeat, a draw and three losses. The fact that Bosso will be playing in front of their home fans will be a big factor.

Prediction: Highlanders win

Ngezi Platinum v Tsholotsho (Baobab Stadium)

ng

On another day Tsholotsho can beat any team in the Premiership. However, the pressure of fighting relegation seems to be affecting them.

Although they dismissed giants CAPS United to progress to this stage, it is difficult to imagine how they can plot the downfall of a Ngezi Platinum side playing without any pressure.

Out of the 24 teams that have participated in the Chibuku Super Cup to date, Ngezi Platinum are ranked 12th despite managing their first win in the first round of the 2016 edition.

Tsholotsho are the mostly lowly ranked team in this tournament at position 14 with just two draws. They will seek to win their first match ever in the to

urnament at Baobab.

Prediction: Ngezi Platinum win

Triangle v FC Platinum (Gibbo Stadium)

tri

There is no doubt Triangle will put up a big fight against FC Platinum who have already beaten them back-to-back in the league this year. However, David Mandigora will be facing a club yet to face defeat in 90 minutes in this tournament.

When FC Platinum was knocked out last year, they had played a goalless match and then lost on penalties.

If FC Platinum can negotiate their way at Gibbo, do the same in the semis and win the final, they will become the first team to win the cup twice.

FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza also stands a chance of becoming the first coach to win the cup twice. The only other coach to have won it Taurai Mangwiro – last year at Harare City – is on the sidelines.

Triangle are the team with the worst defence record in this tournament after conceding 11in five games.

They come face to face with the team with best defence record in Chibuku, FC Platinum, who have conceded one goal in seven matches.

Prediction: A Draw and then FC Platinum will proceed after penalties
