FEW expected Ngezi Platinum to go all the way to the final of the Chibuku Super Cup.

They have made history, becoming the first club to reach the final of this cup in their first year playing in the Premiership.

This cup final can go either way and for FC Platinum, this is a chance to be guaranteed of silverware in case they fail to stop CAPS United in the title race.

Norman Mapeza’s charges go into this battle with more experience, having won the first edition in 2014.

Since that time, they have never lost a match in this cup in open play. Last year they were knocked out after penalties.

Ngezi Platinum coach Tonderai Ndiraya reached the final last year when he was caretaker coach at Dynamos but lost to Harare City.

He has now made it a point that he wants to change the situation.

With the newcomers enjoying a great home record, it is difficult to see how FC Platinum can win the game in 90 minutes.

Mapeza, who is aiming to become the first coach to win the Chibuku Super Cup twice, has been struggling to get good results consistently, with injuries and suspensions affecting his side.

In terms of quality, both teams have some of the most exciting players in the Premiership. It should be a balanced affair.
