
Chibuku Party For Baobab
THE 2016 Chibuku Super Cup final between FC Platinum and Ngezi Platinum Stars will be hosted at the Baobab Stadium in Mhondoro on November 5, completing a fairytale season for the Ngezi based side which punched above its weight in a memorable debut top flight season.
Tonderayi Ndiraya’s Ngezi Platinum stunned Highlanders 1-0 in the semi final at Barbourfields last Sunday while Norman Mapeza’s FC Platinum thumped last year’s winners Harare City 3-0 at Mandava on Saturday.
“The Chibuku Super Cup Final match between FC Platinum and Ngezi Platinum Stars FC will be hosted at Baobab Stadium, Ngezi on November 5, 2016,” read the letter from the Premier Soccer League late Wednesday.
Ngezi began their Chibuku journey with a 3-1 victory over Hwange in the first round before hammering Tsholotsho 4-1 at the Baobab in the quarterfinals.
FC Platinum beat Chapungu 2-0 in the first round before they followed that up with a slender 1-0 win at Gibbo against Triangle.
Pure Platinum Play won the inaugural tournament in 2014 after beating Harare City in extra time at Mandava before The Sunshine Boys laid their hands onto the Cup last season after a 2-1 victory over Dynamos at the National Sports.
