Chelsea Humiliate Mourinho’s United
Chelsea humiliated Manchester United with a 4-0 victory on Jose Mourinho’s return to Stamford Bridge, one of the worst days in the Portuguese coach’s illustrious career.
Goals from Pedro (after 30 seconds), Gary Cahill, Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kante gave The Blues a victory that moves them up to fourth in the Premier League table.
It is Mourinho’s biggest defeat as a Premier League manager and Chelsea’s biggest victory over United since a 5-0 success in October 1999.
Earlier on Sunday, Manchester City saw their winless streak extended to five matches after playing to a disappointing 1-1 draw with a gritty Southampton side at the Etihad Stadium.
The Citizens went into the half-time break trailing, with Nathan Redmond firing the Saint ahead after pouncing on John Stones' no-look back-pass in the 27th minute.
Half-time substitute Kelechi Iheanacho restored parity ten minutes into the second half, but the hosts were unable to push on grab the winner as the Saints held firm in the closing stages of the contest to claim a share of the spoils.
