Chelsea’s deal to sign Romelu Lukaku from Everton is almost done, according to reports in Italy.

Antonio Conte is looking to bolster his attacking options in the summer transfer window, and Sky Italia are claiming that the Premier League leaders are closing in on a move for the Belgium international.

Lukaku, who is currently the Premier League’s top scorer with 21 goals, has a reported price tag of £70 million.

Last week, it was claimed that Conte is at odds with Chelsea’s technical director, Michael Emenalo, over which striker to sign this summer.

Conte’s preference is to acquire Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid, having missed out on the Spaniard last year.

But technical director Michael Emenalo wants to re-sign Romelu Lukaku from Everton and is arguing that the Belgian’s experience of the Premier League should play a factor in the club’s decision.

‘I think many big players will join Chelsea in the summer as Conte wants the Blues to become credible contenders for the Champions League win,’ Italian journalist Massimo Marianella told Sky Italia.

‘I can say Lukaku’s Chelsea move is almost done deal and reports in England claim Alexis Sanchez will also play for Chelsea next season. Many other players could also arrive at Chelsea.’
