Chelsea beat City, Spurs grab three late goals at Swansea, Liverpool held
A first-half double from Eden Hazard helped Chelsea to an important 2-1 win over Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.
Sergio Aguero grabbed the City response, cancelling out Hazard’s tenth-minute opener, but Chelsea dug deep to claim three points that could represent a huge step towards securing the Premier League title.
Tottenham Leave It Late
Tottenham produced a sensational late turnaround to beat a stubborn Swansea side and keep intact their aspirations of winning a first Premier League title.
Despite dominating possession, Spurs fell behind to a neat close-range finish from their former winger Wayne Routledge.
The visitors were camped in their opponents' half for long periods but were frustrated by a combination of their own lack of a cutting edge and Swansea's diligent defending, before Dele Alli eventually broke through to convert Christian Eriksen's cross after 88 minutes.
Son Heung-min fired Tottenham ahead in added time, and then Eriksen completed the remarkable comeback with a curling effort.
While second-placed Spurs continue to breath down the necks of leaders Chelsea, a third defeat in four games sees Swansea drop into the relegation zone.
Liverpool 2-2 Bournemouth: Can’t Defend, Won’t Defend
Liverpool once again dropped points against a Premier League minnow as they predictably scored and conceded two goals.
The Reds went behind to a Benik Afobe goal after a disastrous back pass from Gio Wijnaldum but then dominated the game, with Philippe Coutinho and Divock Origi scoring with two of 20 attempts on goal.
But in the dying minutes, Josh King wriggled free and finished to leave Liverpool once again dropping points against a flawed side.
Arsenal 3-0 West Ham: Go Fifth And Multiply…
Arsenal returned to winning ways with a solid victory over West Ham as a fifth straight defeat plunged Slaven Bilic’s visitors deeper into the fight for Premier League survival.
Both sides went into this London derby in dire form but it was the Gunners who addressed that and ultimately ran out comfortable 3-0 victors, marking their first league win since February 11.
After a dull first half, Mesut Ozil marked his 150th Arsenal appearance with a tame opening goal before laying on the second for Theo Walcott. Olivier Giroud came off the bench to score the goal of the night.
Hull 4-2 Middlesbrough: 17th Heaven For The Tigers
Hull climbed out of the bottom three of the Premier League for the first time since October and shoved Middlesbrough closer towards relegation with a thrilling 4-2 win at the KCOM Stadium.
Oumar Niasse and Abel Hernandez gave Hull a two-goal cushion after team-mate Lazar Markovic had cancelled out Alvaro Negredo’s early opener for Middlesbrough in a breath-taking first 45 minutes.
Boro hit back in first-half stoppage-time through Marten De Roon’s controversial header before Harry Maguire headed Hull’s fourth midway through the second period.
Victory was the Tigers’ fifth in six home league games and lifted them two points above Swansea, while Boro, without a league win since December 17, appear destined for a return to the Sky Bet Championship.
Southampton 3-1 Crystal Palace: Late Show Seals Saints Win
Two goals in the final six minutes from Maya Yoshida and James Ward-Prowse handed Southampton a 3-1 win over Crystal Palace.
Christian Benteke gave the visitors the lead at St Mary’s just after the half hour, but Nathan Redmond equalised before the Saints’ late-show.
Republic of Ireland striker Shane Long spurned a trio of gilt-edged chances and Saints were almost made to pay for that wastefulness, until Yoshida came to the rescue.
The Japan defender’s tap-in seven minutes from time turned this Premier League tie, after Christian Benteke and Nathan Redmond had traded first-half goals.
