Chapungu Unmoved By ‘Ordinary Dembare’

Chapungu have stocked up flames ahead of their clash against Dynamos on Sunday saying they are not intimidated walking into Rufaro stadium as the current DeMbare team has just ‘become ordinary’.

John Nyikadzino the Chapungu coach said Dynamos no longer presents intimidating effect of previous seasons as they have been dropping points at a time they should be fighting for the championship.

“This is not the same Dynamos that we are used to in the past years, because facing DeMbare at this stage of the season is something that was very dreadful. At this stage in the previous seasons, they would be cruising past teams with ease, charging towards the title,” said Nyikadzino.

“This season they are occupying an unfamiliar position and their performance in the past matches has not been associated with the thunder and roar that normally happens when Dynamos are in the second half of the season. So we are going to Rufaro to enjoy football and come back with at least a point.”

“Morale is very high in the team after last week’s convincing win so there is little we can do as coaches to motivate the players because they are high on confidence already. Also we are up against Dynamos and every player wants to be counted for doing well against them.”

Chapungu go into the match on the backdrop of a 3-0 win over Border Strikers last weekend, their biggest this far, while Dynamos are coming from a goalless draw against Ngezi Platinum  having ended a six match winless run with a win over Harare City the previous week.

Chapungu will have in their lineup, four former Dynamos players, Philip Marufu, Allen Tavarwisa, Patrick Khumbula and Aleck Marime who scored a brace last weekend.
