
Chapungu Fly Past Mutare City...As Nyikadzino Reaches Milestone
John Nyikadzino celebrated his 75th premiership match in charge Of Chapungu with a comfortable win over Mutare City at Ascot stadium on Sunday.
The coach took over as coach at the Airforce side in 2012 when they were still in the Central Region won promotion into the premiership at the end of the 2013 season, leading the team from the 2014 season to date.
The fete makes him the current longest serving coach at one club among the coaches in the premiership at the moment.
With teams chopping and changing coaches, Nyikadzino stands to be counted among the longest serving coaches at a club for a given period.
“I am excited to have stayed this long at the club and be the longest serving coach in the country at a club among the current coaches at respective clubs so far. It’s a big achievement considering how coaches are coming and going. It shows that the authorities and the fans have confidence in me. It’s also good that I attained 75 games with a win,” said Nyikadzino.
Second half goals from the club’s leading marksman Allen Tavarwisa and Patrick Khumbula were enough for Chapungu to see off a determined Mutare City who showed flashes of brilliance despite the defeat.
With the win Chapungu moved to 18 points but remained on the same position as How Mine who are above them also won against Border Strikers.
