Chakoroma’s Double Inspires Ngezi To Their First Silverware

A Liberty Chakoroma brace sandwiching Kenneth Bulaji’s strike was all Ngezi Platinum Stars needed to win their first silverware in their debut season in the Castle lager PSL as they beat FC Platinum 3-1 to lift the Chibuku Super Cup.

Ngezi’s win means they become the first team since 2001 to win a major trophy in their first season in the Premiership after Shabanie clinched the BP Cup in their debut season in the top flight in 2001.

The defeat to the Zvishavane based miners dashed their dream for a league and cup double.

FC Platinum are now left to fight for the Castle lager PSL title if they entertain any hopes of ending the season with some silverware

Ngezi Platinum started the game with intent and were deservedly 2-0 up in the 26th minute.

Liberty Chakoroma opened the scoring after ten minutes as he latched on to a loose ball from the edge of the box to grab the lead for Ngezi with Kenneth Bulaji doubling the lead with 26 minutes into the game.

Gerald Takwara reduced the arrears with a powerful drive from about 25 yards out with five minutes to the half time break.

Liberty Chakoroma then completed his brace with three minutes left to play scoring his fourth goal of the tournament which saw him become the tournament’s top scorer.

Win the win, Ngezi Platinum Stars will represent Zimbabwe in the CAF Confederation Cup in 2017.
