Caps v USM Alger: Chitembwe Promises Flair
Caps United coach Lloyd Chitembwe has promised a combination of both grit and flair when Makepekepe host USM Alger of Algeria on Wednesday in what is probably the club’s biggest home game in history.
United are playing in the CAF Champions League group phase for the first time since their formation back in the late 70s and this is their first home match following their 0-2 loss away to Zamalek.
Addressing journalists, who included a contingent from Algiers, a confident Chitembwe promised a good game.
“We are promising determination, concentration, flair and joy,” Chitembwe told journalists at Miekles Hotel in Harare.
“This is probably the club’s biggest game and we want to give it our all. It’s more important to concentrate on what we can do and not focus on what the opponents can do to us.
“USM Alger have achieved more than we have achieved and there is no doubt the game will be a tough one,” he said.
Winger Tafadzwa Rusike is a doubt while veteran Leonard Tsipa is out of the tie but Chitembwe is convinced the available players can do duty.
“Tsipa is about 60 percent fit, Tafadzwa (Rusike) 80 percent but it’s important to look at what we have. Whoever is given an opportunity to play will do so well.”
