CAPS Utd keen to register Chafa
CAPS United coach Lloyd Chitembwe is itching to have midfielder Devon Chafa in action amid revelations the player has been making a big impression at the Green Machine.
Chitembwe, whose team leads the Premiership race, can hardly wait to register the midfielder when the mid-transfer window opens on July 1.
Chafa was overlooked for the first half of the season by his new employers as he was still nursing an injury following his move from How Mine.
But the midfielder, who has been working hard in training, has rediscovered the form, which made him a star at Dynamos.
This was revealed by club president Farai Jere last week when he addressed the players following in-house problems which had rocked the club.
He said his coach was impressed by the midfielder such that he was eagerly waiting for the window to open and have him on board.
And the departure of CAPS United midfielder Allan Gahadzikwa, who was given his clearance letter by the club last week, may not have come at a better time as Chafa is already guaranteed of a PSL slot even before the club considers to de-register any player from their 27-member squad.
Another player who was in Chafa’s predicament is goalkeeper Edmore “Zikeeper” Sibanda, who was also overlooked as he was also injured at the time.
Club chief executive Cuthbert Chitima said the board member responsible for technical portfolio Mordecai Sachikonye will meet the technical team this week to discuss various issues relating to their players.
“The coach is yet to inform us the players he wants registered or vice-versa, so we are supposed to be having a meeting on that.
“No one has been cleared to leave the club expect for Gahadzikwa and we would be in a position to issue out a statement after meeting with the coach,” said Chitima.
Gahadzikwa joined the club this season from FC Platinum but the midfielder endured a frustrating spell at the Green Machine, where he failed to make an impression.
