Caps United's Golden Chance

CAPS UNITED emerged as the biggest winners at Rufaro on Saturday after Harare City stunned log leaders FC Platinum 2-1 in a tense Castle Lager Premier Soccer League clash, a result that left Makepekepe needing just a win to go atop.

With 50 points in the bag, Caps United can move to 53 and two clear of FC Platinum if they beat Border Strikers at Dhulivhadzimu on Sunday.

Harare City gave United the much needed lifeline thanks to goals by Grey Kufandada and William Manondo while Walter Musona scored a late free kick for FC Platinum.

Highlanders’ 1-0 victory over Chapungu, their first at Ascot since 2014, added another twist to the 2016 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League race as Bosso are now tied with Caps United on 50 points.

Bosso are now just a point behind FC Platinum and can now fancy their chances because they have a date with Pure Platinum Play in Week 29.

Find of the season Prince Dube was the hero for Highlanders as he banged in the winner in the 90th minute to spark wild celebrations at Ascot.

Sunday “Mhofu” Chidzambwa’s ZPC Kariba kept their hopes of finishing in the top four when they edged Triangle 1-0 at Nyamhunga, thanks to a Tinei Chitora 29th minute strike.

ZPC Kariba are now fourth with 41 points.

It was all gloomy for Tsholotsho whose quest to climb out of relegation were thwarted by Ngezi Platinum Stars at the Baobab.

Tsholotsho led 1-0 for 88 minutes, courtesy of McClive Phiri’s 17th minute goal but unheralded Ngezi defender Tatenda Mchisa leveled at the death.

Lizwe Sweswe’s men remain second from bottom with 20 points, two behind 14th placed Mutare City Rovers who held How Mine to a goalless draw at Luveve
