Caps United Ready For Last Hurdle
THERE is a strong belief within Caps United that they can upset USM Alger on Sunday and qualify for the Champions League quarterfinals.
Makepekepe held their last training session in Harare on Wednesday ahead of departure for Algiers on Thursday.
Big goalkeeper Edmore Sibanda, who missed last Sunday’s 3-1 victory over Zamalek at the National Sports in Harare trained with the rest of the squad.
All three keepers Jorum Muchambo, Prosper Chigumba and Sibanda are fit for the USM Alger tie.
Valentine Musarurwa sat out while veteran striker Leonard Tsipa is still out with a nagging ankle injury.
“With the grace of God Makepekepe will qualify, this is a new battle altogether. A tough but exciting winner take all battle,” Caps United assistant coach Fungai Kwashi told SportsZone.
“We want to make sure everyone gives his all. The players know what is at stake, this is a must win game.
“We have forgotten about the Zamalek game and the focus is on USM Alger,” said Kwashi.
Caps United, who have six points in Group B, will qualify for the last eight if they beat USM Alger who have eight.
Al Ahli Tripoli who play Zamalek also have eight.
