Caps United Incapacitated
LOG LEADERS Caps United’s preparations for the Harare Derby, a game that has a huge bearing on the Green Machine’s title chances, suffered a huge setback Tuesday morning when the Premier Soccer League suspended top goal scorer Leonard Tsipa and marauding winger Phineas Bamusi.
Tsipa and Bamusi picked up their respective third yellow cards during last Sunday’s 3-1 victory over Border Strikers at Dhulivhadzimu – a win that catapulted Makepekepe to the summit of the log with four games to go.
Makepekepe are now on 53 points, two clear of former log leaders FC Platinum who stumbled at Rufaro last Saturday.
They host Dynamos at the National Sports on Sunday hoping to complete a double over their eternal rivals and cement their chances of clinching a first Premier Soccer League title in 11 years.
And the suspension of Tsipa and Bamusi is a massive blow for Caps United as the duo has been in top form for the Green Machine.
Tsipa is the Premiership’s top scorer with 10 goals and Bamusi is one of the club’s leading goal creators.
The trickery Bamusi was instrumental in two of Caps United’s goals, first when his cross found Tsipa’s head for the first goal before he set up Tafadzwa “Fire” Rusike for Makepekepe’s third late on.
FC Platinum’s key defender Gift Bell is also on the list of players who are suspended for Week 27 and so is Benson Phiri of Highlanders.
Chicken Inn tall centre back Lawrence Mhlanga is also suspended, so is Munyaradzi Kunyarimwe (ZPC Kariba) and Nickel Marichi (Tsholotsho)
