Caps United In A Class Of Their Own
Caps United are now Zimbabwe’s highest ranked side on the CAF club ratings after a stellar performance in this year’s CAF Champions League.
The Zimbabwean champions are now ranked 24th and they are the only team from the country in the top 50.
Against all odds, Caps United reached the mini league phase after claiming the scalps of Africa’s top ranked side TP Mazembe in the qualifying rounds.
They also beat USM Alger and five-time African champions Zamalek in Harare in the mini league phase.
“It’s down to hard work,” United coach Lloyd Chitembwe told The Herald.
“I want to pay tribute to the players and my assistants for a great job.”
Makepekepe bowed out at the group stage after losing 1-4 against USM Alger in Algeria last week, in a game they needed an outright win to progress top the last eight.
They finished with six points in that Group B which also had Zamalek and Al Ahli Tripoli.
