Caps to honour Dynamos fans
CAPS UNITED president Farai Jere revealed that his club will assist families whose loved ones perished in the accident which claimed the lives of seven Dynamos supporters.
Jere said as a sign of honouring the bereaved said Makepekepe will observe a moment of silence before the start of their league clash with Dynamos.
“This is our own way of mourning these heroes of the beautiful game,” said the Caps United president.
“As an institution we are shocked by this tragic event and we join our Dynamos brothers in mourning the death of these supporters.
“It is at times like these that we need to stick together and we will play our small part in assisting the bereaved families during this difficult moment.”
Meanwhile, Makepekepe have failed to beat Triangle in their last three league meetings.
The last time Caps United won a Premiership match against the “Sugar Sugar Boys” was in May 2014 and as the two teams renew their rivalry this afternoon.
Despite enjoying one of their best starts to a season in over a decade Makepekepe gaffer Lloyd Chitembwe is wary of the statistics as well as Triangle’s form.
David “Yogi” Mandigora has done a decent job in the Lowveld since taking over from Kelvin Kaindu at the beginning of the season.
Triangle have lost only once, a 1-2 away defeat against Kaindu’s How Mine, after eight rounds of action and Chitembwe sounded very cautious after Friday’s workout at Barclays Sports Club.“It’s going to be very difficult, very tight, but one game that will also be difficult for them also. That is my expectation,” he said.Mandigora who has managed to keep Triangle competitive despite losing a host of key players during the offseason also sang the cautious tune.
“To get a result against Caps United will not be easy, this is a very tough game but we will give it our best,” he said.Makepekepe are without influential wingbacks Hardlife Zvirekwi and Ronald Pfumbidzai who are with the Warriors in Namibia for the Cosafa Cup.
Utility player Method Mwanjali and linkman Moses Muchenje, who form the team’s captaincy, are both out through injury.
The midfield duo of Tafadzwa Rusike and Archford Gutu has also been ruled out.Bustling striker Leonard Tsipa had a stomach problem on Friday afternoon but Chitembwe confirmed the veteran goal poacher will play a part today.
Going into the match United have 17 points, two ahead of Triangle who are making their second trip to the capital after holding Dynamos to at nil-all draw at Rufaro on April 9.
