CAPS March On
CAPS United edged Harare City 1-0 at Rufaro on Saturday to remain top of the Castle Lager Premiership.
Leonard Tsipa's first minute strike, on his return from suspension, was enough to keep CAPS United's dream alive.
It came on a day FC Platinum floored Chapungu 2-0 at Ascot while Highlanders suffered a 2-1 defeat to Tsholotsho at Barbourfields.
Lloyd Chitembwe's charges are now on 57 points, FC Platinum are second with 55 points while third placed Highlanders are four points behind the log leaders with 53 points.
On the Harare City challenge, Chitembwe said: "It was a very good result. But obviously performance-wise, not so impressed but I know why we did not perform the way I expected them to perform.
"It has a lot to do with anxiety. We were too anxious and it could be the reason why. We did not perform to the level we are capable of but all the same, it is a good result."
Harare City coach Moses Chunga fielded a number of youngsters for the game.
The Sunshine Boys had CAPS United against the wall for long periods, however, they did not get the break they needed.
Chitembwe believes they have to continue getting results even if it means going against the grain.
"We have to continue grinding these results and today we got a good result. It is something that we have to keep working on and so I'm not really worried."
CAPS United missed the services of Tsipa in the last Harare derby - against Dynamos - and it ended 3-3.
He was back against Harare City and though he did not last the first half, the damage had already been done.
He even had another effort ruled off-side.
"Leonard is proving his worthy and I'm happy for him. Each time he is called to do duty, he does exactly that and I'm very happy for him," said Chitembwe.
As things stand, CAPS United could win the league title by beating Ngezi Platinum in their next game while Highlanders beat FC Platinum.
Nothing short of that will mean the title will be decided on the last day.
"The pressure is huge but I think we have managed pressure ever since we started the season.
"I certainly hope that in the next two games we should be able to manage it properly," Chitembwe said.
