CAPS Lose In Another Six-Goal Thriller
CAPS United lost 4-2 to Al-Ahli Tripoli in a 2017 CAF Champions League Group B match at the Stade Taïeb Mhiri in Tunisia.
The Zimbabwe Champions lost 2-4 again in the reverse fixture at the beginning of June in Harare.
The loss makes life difficult for the Lloyd Chitembwe coached side as their chances of progressing to the quarter finals now look very slim with only two rounds of games remaining in the group stage.
They have lost 2-0 away at Zamalek in Egypt and won 2-1 at home against Algerian giants USM Alger and lost 2-4 to Libyan champions Al Ahli Tripoli at home.
CAPS United started brightly as they kept possession in the first 10 minutes forcing three corner kicks which they wasted. The Boss, as Al-Ahli are known to their passionate fans, then got the first goal of the game from Taher who headed past an exposed Edmore Sibanda in goal for the Green Machine.
Ronald Pfumbidzai equalized four minutes later with a spectacular goal straight from the corner. CAPS kept on pressing and were rewarded with a Ronald Chitiyo goal three minutes before the break.
Makepekepe could have wrapped the first stanza with a flurry of goals but were guilty of missing clear chances as the two sides went to the break with the Zimbabwe champions leading 1-2.
The second half started horribly for CAPS as they conceded soon after resumption as Taher got his brace. It was downhill from there for the Green machine as they defended horrendously with Ghanoudi and Alifi adding the third and fourth goals respectively leaving CAPS with a difficult task at as the game ended 4-2.
