CAPS Lack Fighting Spirit: Al Ahli Coach

Ah Ahli Tripoli coach Talaat Youssef said CAPS United are technically good but they lack a fighting spirit.

The Libyan giants completed a double over the Zimbabwe Champions with another 4-2 win at Stade Taieb Mhiri in Tunisia on Wednesday night.

Makepekepe went for breather leading 2-1 but the Harare based side gave up the lead to concede three goals in the second half.

Youssef, who is a native of Egypt said both teams are inexperienced in the CAF Champions league but CAPS lacked aggression.

“They are equally good but they lack a fighting spirt. My players do things from the heart. They play with their spirit. We matched them in terms of experience. We haven't played at this stage. It was a matter of two teams without CAF experience.

“It’s unlike Zamalek and USM Alger, they are experienced sides and are good. But this team lacks a fighting spirit. They don't push. They give up easily. They had a better game in the first half. It was going to be a different second half but they falter. Whose fault? No one but the players must blame themselves for lacking the spirit. Its very important. I realised they are technically gifted but they don't fight for results," he said.

Youssef said his players were hungry for points unlike their opponents.

"Look, they had an advantage by half time. I thought they would wrap the game. But there were not hungry for it. My players needed the win more."

CAPS United remain at the bottom of the group whilst Tripoli and USM Alger have seven points each.

The Green Machine host Zamalek next week. They will also play Yadah in a rescheduled fixture set for Tuesday evening.
